Increase traffic to your blog with Feedburner

While working on my blog, I came across a webmaster tool called feedburner and Ibelieve me the tool can do wonders to your sitefeed.So firstly, I should explain you what is a Feedburner? The Feedburner is a website/web tool used by bloggers to customize their blog layout and analyze traffic coming to their blog's RSS/Atom feed.
Recently it has been acquired by Google Inc. Great news for google fans! It provides the bloggers an easy to use interface to analyze and customize their blog feeds. The tool is very important for non technical bloggers. (Those who have very little or no knowledge of XML/Blogger) Burning your feeds with feedburner does not require you to register your blog feed with google index. The USP of the tool/product is its easy to use interface and no prior knowledge of XML/HTML.It can be used with different Blogger template. As a Blogger I would suggest you to use this tool because the tool can do wonders to your blog's feed(Thus blog) like drastic increase in Page Impressions and Adsense revenue

Here is the step by step procedure to burn your blog feed with Feedburner:

Step 1:Type feedburner.google.com in your browser window. Or Go to Feedburner link from Dashboard.
Step 2:You can Sign In to the Feedburner with your google account. If you don’t have a google account first Sign Up for a feedburner account.

Step 3:Type the blog address and you are ready to use the feedburner features.
Step 4:Now Select your RSS/Atom feed.Click on RSS feed address because RSS is good for dynamic content as shown below in picture.


Here I am describing some of the features I like:

Headline Animator: After activating this feature, there has been a drastic increase in page impressions(from 0 to 1000 per month) of my blog. Do you know how much page impressions I was getting earlier. It was virtually 0.Now you must be curios to know about what a headline animator is? A headline animator is a graphics window that has been especially designed to promote your blog ’s content The feature allows you to create more than 1 headline animators. So use them wisely to promote your blog ’s content. The feature is good for increasing readers and Page impressions.

Feed count: Activating this feature lets you to count the number of readers of the blog who subscribe to your posts via E-mail/RSS feeds. It gives you the choice of directly adding this widget to your Blogger template or pasting HTML code in Blogger template.

Subscribe Via Email: Activating this feature lets the bloggers to offer subscription via E-Mail. I suggest you to use this feature.

Analyze Traffic: You can analyze traffic to your blog with the help of different Graphical reports.

Adsense: You can display adsense ads and also manage your ads from feedburner.

The above list is only few of the features of feedburner tool. You can explore a number of other features of this tool. All the features of this tool are almost self-explanatory.

How to select a good title for your blog

Choosing a title for your blog is no rocket science but I tell you that it could turn out to be more complex than that. I have been blogging on Computers, technology, Software , Blogger Template,Blogging,How to blog, Web 2.0 so I wanted to have a title that could justify and be relevant to the subject of my blog. Therefore I ordered my brain to think of a title, in fact the best title. The very first title that came to my brain was Digital Lines and few others were Digital Labs, Explore IT, Digital Living, Digital Works, And Digital Webzine. I like Digital Lines and Digital Living both but there were blogs with the word digital and i don't wanted to look my blog title copied form somewhere. Now I will tell you why I chose the title Make My Blog for my blog.

Here is why:
1.What I think that for a blog the title should justify the content of your blog. The title of a blog should be descriptive enough to tell you about the content of the blog. The title Make My Blog is descriptive and relevant the content of my blog.

2.As I would be writing about How to Blog,Blogging template,Computers, Technology, Blogging, Software, Web 2.0 therefore the title Make My Blog truly justify the content. My aim is to create an aptitude for the web 2.0 Websites rather giving a how to guide or tech tips.

3.I was looking a title that is descriptive,small, easy and relevant to my blog content and I think Make My Blog is perfectly did that. Having a small title does keep your domain name shorter so that readers have to type less text in browser window. But when I was creating my blog the blog domain with this title was not available and I had chose another name (techieway) in my domain address leading my blog domain a bit longer i.e. www.techcenterplace.blogspot.com. I will have my own domain (i.e. Make My Blog) in future, I hope so.

4.And most of all I chose the title Make My Blog because I like it. I tell you that no reasons can justify a liking. In fact liking is beyond any reasons and therefore I strongly suggest you to follow your heart in case you are a bit confused about selecting a title.

How to Add a Label to your Post in Blogger Template Blog

Labeling a post is very useful feature for Bloggers as it helps in indexing your blog post by search engines like Google and Bing. A label is a keyword (or a group of keywords) attached to a post so that It will be easier for search engines like Google to categorize your blog / post.


How to add label to a blog post:

Step 1: Go to the Template > Page Elements tab, or just click the Layout link on your Dashboard.

Step 2: Click the Edit link on the “Blog Posts” widget.

1. In the configuration window, you’ll see an option to display the labels with each post. You can change the text used for this if you like, but the most important part is to have this option checked.

2. Save your changes, and view your blog to see your labels.

In case the labels attached to your post are not displayed , either switch to a default Blogger template (i.e. Minima White) or consult the template designer.

Can I revert to my default template options? Yes, Follow the procedure below:

Step 1: Go to the Template > Edit HTML tab.

Step 2: Click the Revert widget templates to default link.

Step 3: Click OK in the confirmation message.

Step 4: Go back to the Template >Page Elements tab and check the settings again, as above.

While writing a new post you should attach labels to your post otherwise they will not be displayed even after making above changes. At the bottom of Post edit window there is a option Labels that lets you assign labels to your post.

Why do I blog

I have been blogging from the last couple of months and believe me I am enjoying it. But there are some issues that bothers my mind: Is blogging doing any good to society? Or is it just a waste of time? I do'nt think that it is a waste of time because there are so many Bloggers who not only earning from the blogging but also benefiting the society in their own ways. Also some times the question which bothers my mind! Why I am blogging. Am I blogging for fashion .Or I have got something special to write for my readers? Here is a list of reasons that i feel make me to blog.

It’s Free:

Most of the blogging websites do not charge anything for staring a blog like google Blogger. In fact you can earn some money from blogging by incorporating advertising programs like adsense.

Tech Savvy:

Being a Software Engineer/tech savvy guy I think that you should have presence on the web. Being a software engineer, I have got lot of technical knowledge that I wish to share with the world and nothing better than doing it on your own blog.

Original:

Do you know what requires to be a good Blogger? You should have the ability to write something original no matter how the readers are going to take it. And I think that I have in me the ability to write something fresh.

Time:

I have lot of time on my weekends and we usually waste it watching Idiot Box (TV) or doing something else. And I find the blogging an exciting way to enjoy my weekends. Blogging relaxes your mind and provide a sense of satisfaction.

Social Service:

If somebody benefits from my blog in anyway I think that as a social service. I think that we all should do some kind of social service in a field we are in. Donating money to poor is not only social service; in fact a piece of technical advice could also be a social service.

Money:

Last but not the least it gives you a chance to add some more money to your pocket. Nothing better than blogging and also earning a fair of money and which I think is very important in present days.

How to display adsense ads in posts

Displaying adsense ads after post title can increase your CTR(Click through rate) as has been done in Digital Inspiration. CTR rate plays a very important role in fixing your adsense revenue. Here is the easiest procedure to display adsense ads:

Step1: Log in to your adsense account from the Dashboard and generate HTML code.
Step2: Convert this normal HTML code into a Parsed adsense code because normal HTML code can not be inserted in the xml template. There are 2 methods of parsing your adsense code.
First: Automatic parsing of code using a software/website. It can be done using AdParser or Centricle.com
Second: Do it manually as explained below:
Replace <with &lt; etc...

Step 3: After parsing, your adsense ad code should look like this:


Step 4: To Set the Alignment of your adsense ads , append adsense code as below:

Replace "left" with "center" or "right" for desired alignment.
Step 5: Log in to your dashboard Go to Layout> Edit HTML

1.Below post header/title
2.At the end of Post Body

How to Speed up Your Computer

Is your PC running slow or takes more time to start up than usually it does. Here I am giving you some very important tips to speed up your PC.

Here are some simple tips:

1. Run Disk Clean Up Utility. This will delete all the unneeded files from your computer.

How to do it: Start>All Programs>Accessories>System tools>Disk Clean Up

2. Run Defragment Utility:

What is Defragmentation: The process of rewriting parts of a file to contiguous sectors on a hard disk
to increase the speed of access and retrieval.

How to do it: Start>All Programs>Accessories>System tools>Disk Defragmenter

3. Remove all Toolbar From the Task Bar:

How to do it: Left click on empty area of the task bar>toolbars>Uncheck quick launch

After making above changes if your PC does not work faster then please contact your hardware vendor in case it needs any hardware updates like RAM,CPU.
